The autobiography of Rosa Henson’s is
one of the living proofs of victimhood. She was outspoken, intelligent and
courageous woman who overcome great odds to become a champion of justice for
the most secret and silent victims of World War II.
During the Japanese invasion in Pampanga,
she was forced to be a comfort woman. Because Japanese failed in
accomplishing their plan, one of the soldiers suspected the strange actions of
Rosa so she was dragged and mercilessly beaten, freed and prisoned. She spent
the next nine months of her life in this way. Herded to
comfort saturations and repeatedly
raped by the soldiers of Japanese Imperial Army, Rosa did not give up her life
and endure all. She fought hard for justice for comfort women. They
withstood violence and humiliation that hey commonly experienced in the hands
of the Japanese soldiers. Although she started life painfully with only faith
in God and love for her mother she was able to overcome it all.
If
I were in Lola Rosa’s shoes, I probably lose my sanity halfway. I admired her
for being brave and strong. She influenced and inspired women by her story.
Whatever struggle that comes to your life, if you have the courage with the
purpose of fighting for the justice then you can overcome and survive like Rosa
Henson.
